Self-Care Tips for a Balanced Life

You Can't Pour From an Empty Cup: Why Balance & Self-Care are Essential

One of the things I've noticed, both in myself and with many of my clients, is that when you gain momentum in your career and life, it's easy to get excited and want to say yes to every opportunity coming your way

But if you're not careful, you’ll quickly find yourself out of balance, with your health suffering, your relationships suffering, and sometimes even your career

It's essential to maintain balance in your life and to take time out for balance and personal self-care

There are many ways to do this, but one of the simplest is to take a break from technology now and then

Spend a Saturday or Sunday disconnected from your devices and focused on relaxing and rejuvenating yourself

You'll be surprised how much better you'll feel when you return to your work refreshed and recharged

Leave the phone alone, leave the computers alone, leave the iPads alone, engage in real relationship conversations, face to face

Meet friends for coffee, have family over for afternoon tea, take the kids for a play in the park, go for a walk in nature, whatever it is, get back to rejuvenating yourself

The other important thing to think about in this area of balance and self-care is learning what to say no to

Our no is as important as our yes

So often, we take on more than we can chew

We take it on because we feel obligated

We take it on because we don't want to offend anyone

We take it on because we suffer from FOMO

Oh my God, am I going to miss out on something?

But it's important to know when to say no for the sake of your health, for the sake of your relationships, for the sake of your balance and personal care

It’s critical to your success to know when to say - no

It's important to keep your balance and self-care up if you want to be successful

Make sure you set time aside every week to check in on yourself and make sure you're still enjoying what you're doing

Don't say yes to things out of obligation or fear of missing out - only do things that you really want to do

Keep your balance and take care of yourself as it’s key to maintaining success
